Meet the Director, Kevin Cline:
Kevin originally attended a TEFL course in Barcelona, Spain in 2001. Having moved to Spain in hopes of securing a job, he realized that a TEFL certificate was the only way to open doors.
Having no background in teaching or lesson planning, he enrolled on a 4 week intensive TEFL course to gain the skills necessary for teaching and landing a well paid job. This turned out to be extremely rewarding. His first teaching job was in England at a summer camp for Italian, Albanian and French teens.
From there, he went on to teach for private language schools in Prague, Czech Republic and Novara, Italy. As an employee of these language schools, he would be sent out to teach professional adults at multinational companies like PriceWaterhouse, Abbot Labs, Pfizer, law firms and telecom companies. Kevin also taught group and individual classes on site at the language school and additionally had private students on the side. He spent another summer teaching teens at an English camp at a mountain retreat near Palermo, Sicily.
After a few years of teaching, Kevin was hired by a TEFL training company as Job Guidance Coordinator at the Prague location. He went on to assist the course with university marketing and outreach in the USA and UK. Changing jobs to work for another TEFL school, he then opened 3 new TEFL training centres in Barcelona, Seville and Florence and eventually took over the business in 2006. As the new owner, Kevin operated these 3 TEFL training centres for a number of years, managing marketing, enrollments and day to day operations.
His vast experience teaching English in various countries and working with TEFL trainees has been valuable to hundreds of TEFL graduates, as well as university career and study abroad staff in the USA and UK.
United TEFL Training is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit International Education Organization which aims to connect people with quality accredited TEFL, CertTESOL & CELTA teacher training certification courses and opportunities to teach English in paid and volunteer positions following the course. Funds raised through teacher training course enrollment fees and direct donations are used to provide support to global volunteer-driven organizations which provide English language training as a component of their mission in helping immigrants, asylum-seekers and victims of human trafficking. We are also able to provide United TEFL scholarships toward course fees, for English teachers who commit to volunteer teach with a global nonprofit organization.
Why United TEFL + Europe TEFL?
For a number of years, English Express LLC (doing business as EuroTEFL and Europe TEFL) owned and operated 3 TEFL/TESOL training centres in Barcelona and Seville, Spain and Florence, Italy. With a fantastic staff in each location, we provided quality intensive 4 week TEFL certification courses, coordinated local housing, planned TEFL social activities and developed valuable partnerships with local businesses. Europe TEFL employees and graduates created the Barcelona TEFL Teachers Association, which now has over 3,000 members! Obviously a strong TEFL community and it continues to grow.
Over time, we merged with local TEFL course providers. There simply isn't a need for multiple TEFL courses in one city, all doing the same thing.
For example, you might see 10-15 websites advertising a TEFL course in Florence, Italy. In reality, there are 2. But many websites market these courses, so it seems like there are many to choose from.
It's confusing, we know. The fact is, the local TEFL courses are busy with day to day operations and running their monthly training courses and they rely on us for marketing their TEFL courses and getting your questions answered. We walk you through the process and prepare you, so when you arrive, you have the right expectations. That's important!
